I just had to share what we scored off of Craigslist over the weekend!

I had been keeping my eye out for some kind of storage unit so I could organize our ingredients and products better.

And this is what I found!

An extremely heavy, solid wood, antique corner hutch!

It is 6 1/2 feet tall and 4 feet wide and made of solid wood. It barely (and I mean BARELY) fit through the front door and almost killed hubby bringing it in. It was too big to fit in the room that I had intended it to go in so it is at the end of a hallway. Which is perfect!

The gal said she paid over $300.00 for it an estate sale.

My cost…..$60.00! I was so thrilled with the piece that I didn’t even try to offer her a deal!

Once we get the remodeling done I want to either sand it down and restain it or paint it.

I love this so much I want to search for more old pieces…
Unfortunately, at the moment, we don’t have any spare floor space!

A fellow co-worker recently turned me on to a wonderful local business!

Klesick Family Farm is a local (Stanwood) family owned farm that has a unique business model.

They offer organic produce (and other items) in various selections (selections change weekly) along with home delivery!!!

We received our very first order today…even though it’s just hubs and I, I elected to go with the Family box.

We received apples, strawberries, cherry tomatoes, bananas, garlic scapes, red leaf lettuce, cantaloupe, broccoli and potatoes!

This weekend I think I’m going to make potato salad and put in some chopped garlic scapes! Hubs wants strawberry shortcake (of course!!)

I see they have next weeks availablity up already and dang…makes me want to order again!

We (hubs and I) have never been into organic but I decided to support this business because:

I love paper…..and handmade cards are at the top of my list.
I have come to realize that I will probably never in my lifetime have the time to make my own cards…

So the best I can do is drool over them and, of course, make a purchase every now and again!

These are utterly fantastic!

Card Making with Vellum

Stamp your flower in a random pattern onto vellum with VersaMark Ink. If you are stamping in a well-lit area you will be able to see where you are stamping since VersaMark is clear. Use a fine white embossing powder to emboss your images. (When embossing on the vellum, move your heat tool more than normal around the area so the paper won’t burn.) Stamp two extra flowers and a butterfly with black ink onto white cardstock.

Now it’s time for coloring! All of these images were colored with Tombow Markers and a blender pen. You will notice that color moves more quickly on vellum because of the smooth surface.

When you are finished, you can flip the embossed vellum that you just colored and adhere it to a card. You might like your image with the embossing on the front or back — two different looks with the same technique. This card shows the different effects;

Supplies: Stamps – Transparent set ” To You” #30-067. Other: Penny Black Mix & Match Papers “Purple Mountain”, Zing (OPAQUE White Embossing Powder), VersaMark, Heat Gun, Tombow Markers, Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, vellum, and a white gel pen.

Jolly Elves
All you need are chenille stems, beads, and felt.

What You’ll Need
*One whole chenille stem and half a stem
* Small and large beads
* Wooden face bead
* Small jingle bell
* Felt
* Glue gun and hotmelt adhesive
* Scissors
* Ribbon

Make It
* Hat: Cut a 1-1/2-inch-diameter semicircle from felt. Wrap the semicircle around from point to point to form a cone, leaving a small opening at the tip; hot-glue to secure.

* Scarf: Cut a 1/2-x-4-inch piece of felt; fringe ends with scissors. Cut a small lengthwise slit about 1 3/4 inches from one end for opposite end of scarf to pass through.

* Body: Bend one chenille stem in half and, in the following order, thread materials over the bent point to about halfway down the stem: large bead for body, face bead, felt hat, small jingle bell. Leave about 3/4 inch above the jingle bell and shape the stem into a loop. Then, starting on opposite ends: Thread 4 small beads onto each leg and bend the ends to form feet. Use the half chenille stem to make arms by centering and twisting around the elf’s neck area. Thread 4 small beads onto each arm and bend the ends to form hands. Wrap the scarf around the elf’s neck, then thread ribbon through the top loop and hang.
