Friday Free-For-All

I had a bunch of misc. Friday Free-For-All stuff to post…realized what day it was and put it on hold til next week.

September 11, 2001

A day that changed us forever.

It’s hard to believe it’s been 8 years since the terrorist attack and I still, to this day, get choked up.

Where were you on September 11, 2001?

I was heading out the door and the tv caught my eye… An airplane had just plowed through a building. Even though I heard the newscaster in the background my first thought was it was a movie trailer or a commercial for…what?

As I stood there watching my brain could not comprehend what I was seeing. There was no way in hell what I just saw was real…was it? It had to be a horrible accident…a miscalculation on the pilots part. I watched for a few more minutes and as the images processed through my brain I began to realize…yes this was real.

I had to leave and once I got to my destination I stayed glued to my computer..checking all of the news sites for more information. As the days events rolled out and the information came in I was numb and still not quite believing.

How could this happen?
And more importantly….WHY?

How could ‘a people’ sustain so much hate and cause so much destruction and think it’s ok?

At first I was numb…then as the days went by….sad. I never really, even to this day, felt …. angry. I think I feel pity more than anything towards the people responsible.

I watched each and every broadcast, newsreel and documentary regarding 9/11…for days…and weeks….and cried. Finally it got to the point where I was over-saturated and just could not watch any more.

It’s been 8 years since 9/11.

I still look at airplanes flying overhead a little differently.
I still feel sadness for the victims on the planes, in the buildings, the rescuers and all of the friends and family directly affected by this tragedy.

Today is September 11th.

And I again this year (as I have done for the last 7) will watch each and every documentary and tv show that will be broadcast tonight and….cry.

It is my way of honoring and remembering those people directly affected in the most horrific event on U.S. soil.
