Today (and every Friday!) is Friday Free-For-All….
And here’s why:

I have actually put together an entire years’ worth of blog subjects on an excel calendar (this helps me to stay focused and keeps things interesting!). Each day will pertain to a certain subject:

Monday – Sales & Cool Items
Tuesday – Ingredient Profile (related to either scent/product/cooking)
Wednesday – Recipes (related to scent)(you are free to email us your related recipe!)
Thursday – Eco-News
Friday – Free For All

Along with the above blogging schedule we will also have guest bloggers!

Sooooo with that being said here is my blathering for the first Friday Free-for-All!

Movies:
There are several movies coming out that I (and hubs) would love to see..however, our state has something like 35 confirmed cases of H1N1 (they don’t like to call it swine flu anymore…gives pigs a bad name ya know!) with another 40 pending. The idea of sitting in close proximity to another coughing-hacking-rude-who-doesn’t-cover-their-mouth-while-spewing-germs-all-over person just does not appeal to me at this moment. Guess that means we will have to wait for the dvd.

Star Trek (hubs choice not mine but anything for the hubs!)

Speaking of Movies:
We now have Verizon Fios (phone/internet/tv) which I love as it also includes a dvr so we can record entire series with just a click of a button (so to speak). Yea to no more tapes! (guess we were a little behind the times).

However, on the Fios controls there is an On Demand button which I never gave a second thought until last weekend.

A couple of weekends ago the two granddaughters (age 10 & almost 12) spent the night. When asked what they were watching (in the guest bedroom) they said Madagascar II. Hmmm…I was thinking…Isn’t that a new movie??? (I don’t really watch a lot of tv or pay attention to what movies are out).

Then this last weekend they were here hanging out watching tv….this time it was Bride Wars.

I knew for a fact that Bride Wars was a NEW movie and I knew right then what they were doing…

Can you guess??

Remember that On Demand button on the controls?

I asked them what EXACTLY the screen said when they clicked the On Demand/Bride Wars option.

The oldest one chimed ‘Purchase/Watch so I pushed Watch’.

So apparently the little darlings were in the bedroom purchasing and watching movies! I wasn’t mad and in fact chuckled to myself. My..Own..Fault for not paying attention or explaining Just..How..Easy..It..Is to purchase a movie right through your tv controls.

Needless to say I explained what PURCHASE meant (duh they play dumb really well!) and the next time they wanted to watch a move On Demand to come ask me first!

Mothers Day
I wanted to wish all mothers an early Happy Mother’s Day!

We went to my favorite local nursery and bought my mom a beautiful clay pot filled with succulents (my favorite plants) along with some of our now-out-of-stock spring soap. It never occurred to me to take a picture so I could post it here. Mom? Maybe you could take one and email it to me?

Hubs ordered his mom (cause she does not live close) a fruit basket. She should get it today.

As for me…our kids are coming over and hubs is going to smoke/bbq pork butt (which really does not come from the butt!) and make shredded pork sandwiches. According to him (and he IS the bbq genius!) he is going to have to get up before the wee hours of dawn to get the smoker going! (sorry hun but I’m sleeping until at least 6-when you normally get up at 4 am, 6 am IS considered sleeping in!). Daughter #2 wants him to also make some kind of bbq chicken pizza (she doesn’t eat pork) so we will have to explore that idea as well. Throw in a little potato and pasta salad and fresh fruit and we are good to go!

The local weather forcast is for 70 degrees on Sunday so I’m really looking forward to that!

One Last Thing:
We have a very basic VIP newsletter that we send out once a week. I KNOW its basic and I’m not very happy with it but I have no clue how to customize it to match our website/blog. I have had a few people say they would help then I never hear from them again. I’m going to email the person who did our website and blog header to see if this is something she can do. If not I ask for your patience while we search for someone to help us.
