Even though the American Cancer Society has basically debunked the myth that parabens cause cancer you will find many websites that sell ‘natural’ products still trying to perpetuate this myth in order to create more sales of their ‘natural’ body care products.

Parabens have been safely used for years as a reliable preservative system in body care products to prevent the growth of mold, bacteria and harmful yeast. Any body care product that includes water as an ingredient needs some kind of preservative system otherwise you will have ‘nasties’ growing in your product…some that are invisible to the naked eye!

In keeping with our eco-friendly profile (and to appeal to those who are avoiding parabens) Country Meadow is now paraben free. We are using an eco-certified preservative blend in place of the paraben preservative system we have used in the past.

The certified preservative blend has been classified as an eco-friendly raw material based on EU regulations and has not been animal tested! It gives broad spectrum protection against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, yeast and mold.

Our lotion, sugar scrubs and whipped body creams have all been converted to the new eco-friendly preservative blend. All labels will have the correct preservative listed and we are working on our website to get the ingredient list changed for the above mentioned products.

Country Meadow strives to make the most natural products possible without compromising the integrity of the product or our customers health and well being and we hope you understand the need to have some type of preservative system in your body care products.

(Side note: Be wary of any company that is using grapeseed extract as a preservative system. Grapeseed extract (gse) is used as an antioxidant to help prevent oils from going rancid…It will NOT prevent the growth of mold, yeast or bacteria!)
