Ingredient of the Month
Unrefined Shea Butter
Our unrefined shea butter comes from the nuts of wild shea trees that grow in the fields and savanna’s in central and northern Togo, Africa. We purchase this raw ingredient from an African producer that follows the Fair Trade credo: To create a just and sustainable economic system through fair trade.
This producer pays a fair living wage to the women of Togo, Africa. In addition money is put back into the African community in the form of community enhancement projects, AIDS and malaria outreach as well as educational scholarships.
Unrefined shea includes an abundance of healing ingredients including vitamins, minerals, proteins and fatty acids. Unlike petroleum based products shea butter actually enables your skin to become softer.
Shea butter has also been shown to help with skin conditions such as extreme dryness, eczema, blemishes, scrapes and more.
We use a high percentage of unrefined shea butter in our Umoja collection.
This collection includes both soap and whipped body cream and is naturally scented!
Imara – A nearly natural blend of patchouli, orange, lavendin, pine, lemongrass, elemi, and gardenia.
Busara – an exotic blend of black pepper, elemi, nutmeg, juniper berries, ginger, clary sage, sandalwood, ylang ylang and cypress.
